From Bagdogra, taxis or shared cabs can get you to Gangtok and Kalimpong.

Altitude and Acclimatization:

Kolkata is at sea level, while Gangtok is at 5,500 feet and Kalimpong at 4,100 feet. For visitors not used to altitude, It's advised to take it slow to acclimatize and prevent altitude sickness.
