Travel Tips

Currency: RON Time Zone: Eastern European Time (UTC +2) Language: Romanian

Hello, it sounds like a fantastic trip you're planning to Romania! Here are some travel tips for visiting Bucharest, Brasov, and Cluj-Napoca.

Best Time to Visit:
The best time to visit Romania is between late spring and early autumn, from May to September, when the weather is warm and the days are bright. However, if you love winters and are interested in winter sports, the months of December to February are perfect in Brașov for skiing.

Route and Accessibility:
Begin your journey in Bucharest. There are daily flights from most major airports in the world to Henri Coandă International Airport. From Bucharest, both Brasov and Cluj-Napoca are easily accessible by road or rail. Car rentals and busses are also available. It's around a 3-hour drive to Brasov and from Brasov, it's a 5-hour drive to Cluj-Napoca.

Accommodation and Booking:
There are a plethora of options for accommodation in each city ranging from luxury hotels to budget hostels. Try to book your hotels in advance, especially during peak season. If you prefer a local experience, consider a bed-and-breakfast in Transylvanian villages.

Clothing and Essentials:
If you are visiting during the warmer months, pack lightweight clothing, a waterproof coat, and comfortable walking shoes. For the winter, warm clothing, winter shoes, scarves, gloves, and a hat are essential. Also pack sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a locally enabled sim card.

Health and Safety:
Romania is generally a safe destination for travelers. However, it is advisable to have an updated routine vaccination, along with vaccination for Hepatitis A and B. Always take out travel insurance, watch for pickpockets in crowded areas and avoid poorly lit areas at night.

Local Etiquette and Respect:
When visiting churches, dress modestly, speak softly and don't use your phone. Romanians appreciate if you learn some phrases in Romanian. Tipping is customary in restaurants, taxis, and hotels.
