Travel Tips

Currency: EGP Time Zone: Eastern European Time (UTC +2) Language: Arabic

Hi there! It sounds like an exciting trip to Egypt with some amazing destinations on the cards! Here are some tips for making your travels safe, convenient, and truly memorable.

Best Time to Visit:
The best time to visit Egypt is from October to April when temperatures are relatively low and bearable. It's also the peak tourist season. However, if you're planning to enjoy the Red Sea resorts in Hurghada, the summer months May to August can also be enjoyable.

Route and Accessibility:
You can start your journey in Cairo, the capital, which is well-connected internationally. From Cairo, you can take a domestic flight or train to Luxor and then to Aswan. For Hurghada, it's best to take a domestic flight from Cairo or Luxor.

Accommodation and Booking:
Booking in advance is recommended especially if you're visiting during the high season. You'll find a range of accommodations, from luxury resorts to budget hostels. In Cairo and Hurghada, Airbnb is also a popular option.

Clothing and Essentials:
Lightweight, breathable clothing is best for the day time. Remember to pack a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock. It can get chilly at night, so a sweater or jacket is recommended. Modest attire is required when visiting religious sites.

Health and Safety:
Stay hydrated and use sunblock to protect against the sun. Basic medical services are available in major cities but consider travel insurance for peace of mind. Egypt is quite safe for tourists but common-sense precautions apply, like not flashing valuables and using licensed, reliable transportation modes.

Local Etiquette and Respect:
Egyptians are generally friendly and hospitable. Common greetings include 'As-salamu alaykum' (peace be upon you). Tipping, or 'baksheesh', is expected for many services. Dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites.
