Travel Tips

Absolutely! A trip to the Maldives islands seems fun and relaxing. Here are some tips:

Best Time to Visit:
The best time to visit Male and neighboring islands is between November and April, the dry season, where you'll experience the least rain and the most sun.

Route and Accessibility:
You can easily travel to Male's Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, which is well connected to many international destinations. From there, you'll find speed boats and seaplanes to reach other islands like Thinadhoo, Hithadhoo, and Gan.

Altitude and Acclimatization:
The Maldives is the lowest country in the world in terms of average ground level so there's no need to worry about altitude sickness. However, do take precautions for heat and humidity.

Accommodation and Booking:
Luxury resorts are plentiful on the islands, especially on Gan. Other islands like Thinadhoo and Hithadhoo offer guests houses and budget options too. Book in advance, particularly during the peak season from December to March.

Clothing and Essentials:
Pack for tropical weather. Bring swimsuits, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, a hat, and a reusable water bottle. A light rain jacket could be useful during the rainy season.

Health and Safety:
Ensure to stay hydrated and to use plenty of sun-protections. Watch out for currents when swimming or snorkeling. While the Maldives is quite safe, basic precautions should still be observed.

Local Etiquette and Respect:
The Maldives is an Islamic nation. Dress modestly when not at the beaches or in the resort areas, particularly in Male. Respect the local customs and traditions, including during the holy month of Ramadan. Public display of affection and consumption of alcohol is prohibited outside the resort areas.
